This future history of America foretells of a moment in time when our Latino population, becoming the majority, not only in population, but in our government, challenges those in power who would deny their right to govern. Soon after The Dream of the Fathers was published, Michael started work on his second novel, Secret Betrayal.
Secret Betrayal, published in 2014, races across a world torn apart by war. The research done by the author is an integral part of the book. He has added a lot of intrigue and adventure too. The novel proves the extraordinary power of love during times of personal sacrifice and suffering. If you are a fan of history, adventure, and romance, you are sure to enjoy this gripping novel by Michael Williamson.
The novel revisualizes an extraordinary era of world history while you explore the longings that lie deep in the human heart, which can lead some toward love and just as easily send others to death and destruction. The story of Secret Betrayal revolves around
the Allied invasion of Europe in 1944. The factual background of the war was thoroughly studied and understood by the author allowing him to successfully weave the characters and plot within actual events. While it would appear, the date and location of the Allied invasion is the secret referred to in the title, there is a far more deadly and dangerous secret threatening the lives of the principle characters.
The novel begins with teenager Carla Offenbach running away from her home after the repeated abuse of her step father. She ends up in Berlin where over time she becomes a woman of wealth and influence. This is a wild, liberated Berlin, where in the years before the war, she becomes the owner of a successful cabaret, The Combat Club. However, when the realities of war force fun loving Germans out of the clubs and into the safety of their homes, she is forced to accede to the demands of her benefactor, Reichsleiter Martin Bormann, the Nazi Party Minister, to close the club.
The book spans twenty years of Carla's life, racing across Europe and India as she ends up in the wilds of Canada with General Roger Colum her only hope of survival. Apart from the redemptive power of love the novel explores the evolutionary power of kundalini yoga and the war within a war waged between Reichsfurhrer Herman Himmler and Reichleiter Martin Bormann for control over Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.
